Notifications:

You can now see your notifications clearly on the lock screen and it also gives you the ability to check what it is, it also allows you to interact with it, if there is an option. (e.g. if you get an email, you can swipe down and get option to reply to it.)
You can also swipe it to the left or right to discard the notification which will hide it. This was a feature that was on the iOS devices.

Settings:

The looks of the setting button has changes and looks more vibrant. The colour scheme has changed inside the settings, it looks a lot more brighter and classic. They have added a small search button on the top right corner to make it easier to find stuff in the settings menu.
They have also added a Battery saving option which will help you with battery saving. This will automatically pop up when you are low on charge however you can also go into the new settings and turn it on manually.

Lock Screen:

The lock screen has changed quite a bit, the appearance of the lock menu looks very similar but the functionality has progressed. You are now able to swipe to the left to access the camera, which was also on ‘KitKat’ however you can now swipe to the right to access calls. To unlock the device you swipe up, these small features make the difference.

Notification Panel:

The notification panel has changed dramatically compared to any other notification panel. The background of the panel if now full transparent with a very light shade of black, you can still clearly see the content behind. The notification blocks are still fully opaque which makes it easier to read the text.
You can swipe down again from the top in the notification panel which will give you the ability for quick settings(e.g. WiFi, Bluetooth, Location), they have also added a ‘Cast screen’ button for those that use the Chrome cast.

Animation – Colour:

The animation that has been put on the entire OS has been done very well, it looks 99% more smoother and cleaner. When you open an app it doesn’t just flash up, it slides in from the bottom. Also when you are on the multi-tasking page, the apps are stacked up and you can either slide to the left or right to quit the app.
The colour scheme has been improved with a very vibrant and classic blue. This is one of the main things that they have focused on when making ‘Android L’. The colours in the calculator app also looks very nice and has changed a lot.
